Mary Virginia McMakin

Of  Burlington, formerly of Charlestown

Mary Virginia (Rock) McMakin of Burlington, formerly of Charlestown, died on December 21.

She was the beloved wife of William B.; loving mother of Mary “Ginger” Franchitto and her husband, Larry, of Hudson, NH, AnnMarie McMakin of Burlington, and Theresa Ann “Terry” Tremblay and her husband, John, of Burlington; sister of the late Richard and Francis Rock; devoted grandmother of Brandon, Nathan, and Victoria Franchitto and Brittany, Terese, Monique, and Jacquelyn Tremblay and dear friend of Mary C. Vivolo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington. Phyllis Doherty

Of Framingham, formerly of Charlestown

Phyllis M. (Morgan) Doherty of Framingham, formerly of Charlestown, died on December 23.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Doherty BFD HQ Ret.; sister of the late John “Jackie” Morgan and Jean Morgan; sister-in-law of Claire Doherty of Quincy and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were by the O’Donnell & Mulry Funeral Home, Dorchester. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Donations in her memory may be made to Bethany Healthcare, 97 Bethany Rd., Framingham, MA 01702.

Lois Maher

Charlestown resident

Lois M. (Kelley) Maher of Charlestown died on December 18.

A US Marine Corps veteran of World War II, she was the beloved wife of the late James J. Maher; devoted mother of William F. Maher of Washington, James J. Maher, Jr., of Plymouth, Kevin M. Maher of Colorado, Ellen M. Lund of Plymouth and the late Mary Lois Crowley, Michael and Paul Maher. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were by the John H. Sawyer Funeral Home, Charlestown. Burial was in St. Patrlck’s Cemetery, Lowell.
