Sally Zannino

Worked at Walgreen’s in Everett

Sally A. (Gorman) Zannino of Peabody, formerly of Everett, died on Dec. 16. She was 64 years old.

Born in Charlestown and a longtime Everett resident before moving to Peabody, she was a homemaker who worked at Walgreen’s in Everett for many years.

The beloved wife of the late Richard F. Zannino, she was the dear and devoted mother of Richard F. and his wife, Anna, of Greenwich, CT; Stephen A. and his wife, Cheryl, of Canton; David J. and his wife, Cate, of Reading, and Elena M. Guiry and her husband, Jim, of Peabody; sister of John Gorman and his wife, Peggy, of Tewksbury, Helen O’Keefe of Medford, Cath Duerr and her husband, Bob, of Methuen, and the late Margaret Fletcher, Thomas and James Gorman; loving grandmother of Nicole, Joey, Zach, Jesse, Jenna, Austin, Mariah, James, David, Nicolas, and Luke.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Contributions in her memory to St. Anthony’s Shrine Mission, 100 Arch St., Boston, MA would be sincerely appreciated.

Micah Young

Charlestown resident

Micah C.J. Young of Charlestown died suddenly on Dec. 17. He was 20 years old.

He was the beloved son of Judith (Cleveland) and Richard M. Young; devoted brother of J.C. Mary Young and Logan Taylor Young, both of Charlestown, and the late Taylor Paz Young; best friend but more a brother to Zack Allen; loving grandson of Mary Cleveland, Robert and Mary Young and the late Barbara Young. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins.

There are no funeral home visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Charles McCarthy

40 year Boston Fire Alarm Assistant Superintendent

Charles E. McCarthy of Reading died on Dec. 13. He was 84 years old.

A US Navy veteran of World War II, he was the Assistant Superintendent of Boston Fire Alarm for 40 years.

He was the beloved husband of Doris (Gerry) McCarthy; devoted father of Annmarie O’Brien of Salem, Charles J. McCarthy and his wife, Evelyn, of Beverly, Richard S. McCarthy and his wife, Virginia, of Lynn, Kathleen McCarthy of Salem, Lorraine McLaughlin and her husband, Michael, of Winthrop, Robert P. McCarthy and his wife, Diane, of Haverhill and Deborah DelGreco and her husband, Charles. of Reading; loving grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of seven; dear brother of Robert McCarthy and his wife, Jean, of Medfield, Marion McLaughlin and her husband, Tod, of Charlestown, and the late Henry McCarthy and his surviving wife, Rosemarie, of Amesbury. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ilse Sullivan

Lynn resident

Ilse S. “Oma” (Vollrath) Sullivan of Lynn died on Dec. 12. She was 92 years old.

She was the wife of the late Albert F. Sullivan, former co-owner of the Old Sullys in Charlestown, mother of Ilse Sullivan and Joe Driscoll, of Lynn, Dietger Kleinschmidt of Germany, Ronald Sullivan and his wife, Cheryl, of Westfield, and the late Albert F. Sullivan Jr.; the loving Oma to her grandchildren Kelly Aylward, of Lynn, Sean, Connor, and Shannon Sullivan, of Westfield, Claudia Kleinschmidt, of Germany, and the late Ryan Aylward.

Bobby ‘Fitta’ Fitzgerald

Member of Many Organizations

Bobby “Fitta” Fitzgerald of Winthrop, formerly of Charlestown, died suddenly on December 11.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of The International Steamships Clerks Union #1066, I.L.A., a member of The Halligan Club, The Bunker Hill Council #62, K. of C., The Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078 and the Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association.

He was the husband of the late Grace (Mahoney) Fitzgerald; beloved father of Debbie Kane of Winthrop and her late husband, Marty Kane, Christine Kelly and her husband, Eddie, of Melrose and the late Bobby Fitzgerald; loving grandfather of Aileen Kane and Bobby Kelly; devoted brother of David Fitzgerald and his wife, Joan, of Mashpee and the late Eleanor Mahoney, Margie McGonagle, Thomas, George, and Edward Fitzgerald.
