Letter to the Editor

Tom MacDonald and the Charlestown Harvest on Vine Food Pantry

Dear Editor,

As a longtime Charlestown resident, I had no idea that we had a food pantry in our community much less that it’s been in existence for the past two decades!  The man behind it all is Tom MacDonald.

While Tom is best known as the social ministry director at the Charlestown Catholic Collaborative (which oversees the operation of the Harvest on Vine food pantry), in his spare time he is a successful writer of mystery novels.  He is an inspiration to the community and the volunteers with whom he works.  His open-door policy and willingness to be there 150% for those in need is incredible.  He gives so much of himself, and most don’t fully understand the half of it unless you see him in action.  Tom will never let you know how many people he serves in this community.  I can truly say, I have never met anyone more caring and generous than Tom.

If you haven’t gotten to know Tom MacDonald, you should stop in and get to know him.  He’s an extremely humble, generous, caring, honest, hard-working man who is extraordinary, and he could use your help.

This month on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Brewer’s Fork starting at 1 PM., Tom will be hosting his annual fundraiser for Harvest on Vine and all are welcome.  Donations are $50 Per person.  If you can’t join us, contributions are also welcome at Harvest on Vine – Charlestown Catholic Collaborative (stmarystcatherine.org). Please remember to put a notation with your donation to “Harvest on Vine.”
