CHARLESTOWN LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN-UPS

Charlestown Little League has winter clinics on Mondays (except President’s Day) at the Community Center on Medford St. through the end of March: 6-7 p.m. for 4-7 year-olds and 7-8 p.m. for 8-12 year-olds.

They have batting practice at Extra Innings in Middleton on Sundays 2-4 p.m. through the end of March. Players must be registered for the 2019 season to participate, and then sign up on the SignUpGenius link below. Any questions? Email [email protected].

CONGRATS McKenna Kyle and Adriana Cepeda on a phenomenal undefeated championship swimming season at Latin Academy (8-0).

CYHA UPDATE – GIRLS EDITION

The Charlestown Youth Hockey girls teams have had an extremely successful run this January, following up on a strong early winter campaign. Teams are now preparing for the run-up to the playoffs and the annual McGonagle-McGoff Tournament at the Charlestown Rink.

•U10s – The U10 girls team under Coaches Melissa Richard and John Sutich took their first loss on Saturday, Feb. 2, in some time, losing on the road to the Nashoba Grizzlies, 3-6. However, they remain in first place at 13-2-2 ahead of the Natick Comets.

•U12s – The girls U12 team remains in first place at 3-1-2 and comes off a big win on home ice last Saturday, Feb. 2, over the Norwood Nuggets, 6-0. The girls will face the ABCC U12 Maroon team on the road Feb. 9.

•U14s – The U14 team under Coach Joe Scoppettuolo took a tough loss at home on Saturday, Feb. 2, by a score of 4-8. However, they were hampered by not having their regular goalie in the net. The girls are in eighth place at the moment with a 2-5-1 record, but have a much better record for the entire season at 12-6-2.

•U18s – The girls U18 A and B teams played together earlier in the fall, but are now on break as the older girls play for their respective high schools and club teams.

•Thursday, Feb. 7 – Pacers vs. Wizards, 6:30 p.m. at Community Center 1; Phoenix Mercury vs. Connecticut Suns, 7:15 p.m. at Edwards Middle; Celtics vs. Trailblazers, 7:15 p.m. at Harvard Kent; Bucks vs. Spurs, 7:30 p.m. at Community Center 2; Warriors vs. Thunder, 7:30 p.m. at Community Center 2; and Sonics vs. Mavericks, 8:15 p.m. at Harvard Kent.

•Monday, Feb. 11 – Thunder vs. Pacers, 7:15 p.m. at Edwards Middle. •Tuesday, Feb. 12 – Wizards vs. Warriors, 6:30 p.m., Community Center 2; and Trailblazers vs. Sonics, 7:45 p.m., Community Center.
