Boston Marathon Bombing Survivors to Read Their Children’s Book Aug 21

Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes, both of whom lost legs in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, will read their recently published children’s book, “Rescue and Jessica, A Life Changing Friendship,” on Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. in Shipyard Park outdoor amphitheater in the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Patrick will narrate the story, illustrator Scott Magoon draws some of the book’s illustrations for the audience, and Jessica – a nursing student at adjacent MGH Institute of Health Professions – will be on hand with the couple’s service dog, Rescue.

Children of all ages are invited to attend. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and personalization – including a paw print autograph from Rescue!

In addition, you can enjoy Dale Roger’s public art exhibit, “The Big Dog Show,” while at this free event. Food trucks will also be on site. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
