CASTLE ISLAND BREWING TAKES BEER GARDEN TO CHARLESTOWN

Castle Island Brewing Company has now opened a beer garden,  which will run through the end of the summer over at Constitution Wharf in Charlestown. It had previously planned to open the garden at Ink Block in the South End until that deal fell through.  This Navy Yard site will be open from 2 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

THERE’S A SPENSER MOVIE COMING OUT LATER THIS YEAR

We all remember the TV show “Spenser for Hire” which was a great private-eye show starring Robert Urich as Spenser. When the show first started Spenser lived in Beacon Hill at an old firehouse, but eventually he ended up in Charlestown at his new digs on the third floor of an apartment building at the corner of Monument Avenue and Main Street. I guess he was the first “Toonie” character in TV history.

Well, Mark Wahlberg is bringing the Spenser character back to live in a new, upcoming movie. Recently, I ended up at an open casting call for the movie. Even wore my Charlestown football T-shirt for good luck. Hopefully, I will get in to it. To date, I have been an extra a few times but always as either an Italian gangster or as an Irish FBI agent. This time if I make the cut, I will just be a thug for a change.

Listen, between you and me, I think I could play a caucasion named “Hawk”‘ but if they want to shave my head, I am outta there.

LOTS OF PAMPERED PUPS OUT THERE

Ever notice while walking around the Town that it seems everyone owns a dog? Ever notice all the dog walkers out there walking a handful of dogs at once? Dog nannies are in. Everybody works and dogs must poop. Good business to go into. Recently bumped into Ashley Ammendolia who runs a dog walking service named “The Pampered Pup.”Great name if youask me.

It s amazing how this business started up so quickly too. I caught up with Ashley at the Starbucks outdoor sitting area when  was talking with Kenny Hall as usual. She was with a little named “Brady.’ I wonder how many dogs out there are named after a famous quarterback, huh?

If you sit outside the Starbucks at the old Bank Building in Thompson Square, you can’t believe how many dogs walk byAll breeds, all sizes all interested in one thing, the bowl of dog bones  on the ground waiting for them to pass by.
