“QUINN” GOLFERS PAR FOR THE COURSE
The Lt. Michael P. Quinn Scholarship Committee would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the 128 golfers who participated in their 22nd annual tournament. The Quinn scholarship was established in September of 1969 in honor of U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Michael P. Quinn who was killed-in-action in Vietnam on August 29, 1969, and awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroism. An outstanding football linebacker and hockey defenseman, Michael was inducted into both the Boston Latin High School and College of the Holy Cross Hall of Fame. To date, nearly $180,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 49 noteworthy “Townie” scholar athletes looking to pursue a college degree.
Some of the outstanding linksters in the 2017 golf tourney included:
1st PLACE (Men) — Bernie Doherty
2nd PLACE (Men) — Brian McCabe
1st PLACE (Women) — Lynn Anthony
CLOSEST TO PIN (Men) — Dennis Costin
CLOSEST TO PIN (Women) — Helen Crestalde
LONGEST DRIVE (Men) — Hugh Curran
LONGEST DRIVE (Women) — Jennifer Rauch
