SPRING HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

The MIAA softball and baseball tourney pairings were announced Tuesday and a plethora of “Townies” will be going for the glory. Good luck to Jake Scanlan (East Boston), Mike Ward (Latin Academy), Chris Tucker (Latin Academy), Gavin Kelsey (Wilmington), Carleigh Schievink (Latin Academy), Jessica Rynne (Latin Academy), Jessica Pistorino (Latin Academy), Mackenzie Nee (Latin Academy), Maeve Fitzz (O’Bryant), Briele Arias (O’Bryant), Gabrielle Comeau (Bishop Feehan), Taylor Sullivan (Revere) and Jordan Sullivan (Revere).

Senior shortstop Patrick Kelly, a three-time Catholic Central League All Star, posted a 2017 batting average of .491 and amassed a career average of .352 while notching 80 hits, 66 runs, 36 RBIs, 87 putouts and 130 assists. He was successful in 52 of 54 stolen base attempts and led Pope John to a 2016 MIAA tourney appearance for the first time in over 20 years. A two-sport captain and National Honor Society student, Patrick also played an intricate role for the Tigers “hoop” team which posted 53 victories and 7 MIAA tourney wins the last three years. Patrick has been accepted to the Business Sports Management Honors Program at St. Joseph College (ME).

 

SELECTED TO AGGANIS GAME

Revere senior quarterback Eddie Sullivan has been selected to participate in the annual Harry Agganis football game. He was also voted first team conference All-Star for lacrosse and has tallied over 300 career points.
