BISONS BACK TO WINNING WAYS

Nichols (10-8) wrapped up their 2017 lacrosse season with a heart-breaking 13-10 loss to the University of New England in the CCC League quarterfinals. Freshman standout midfielder Hugh O’Donnell finished the campaign with a goal and an assist and led the Bisons with 22 caused turnovers. Hugh was also was second on the team with 44 ground balls and, as a testament to his tenacity, second with 12 penalties. The Bisons registered their first winning season since 2004.

 

SPRING HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS BASEBALL

In the latest Boston Herald poll, East Boston is ranked #5 in Division 3 North …Latin Academy third baseman Mike Ward knocked in a pair of runs as the Dragons handed East Boston their first defeat of the season in a 10-1 smackdown on Monday, May 8.

Senior shortstop Patrick Kelly belted three hits, including the game-winning RBI double, and tallied 3 runs and 3 RBIs as Pope John XXIII made it four in-a-row with a 10-7 victory over Chelsea on Monday, May 1…Senior southpaw Chris Tucker hurled a shutout and helped his cause with three walks and a pair of RBIs as Latin Academy pulverized Charlestown by a score of 23-0.

SOFTBALL

In the latest Boston Herald poll, Bishop Feehan is ranked #3…Latin Academy 7th grade outfielder Jessica Pistorino (2 hits, 2 walks, 4 RBIs) and 8th grade pitcher Carleigh Schievink (2 hits, walk, 2 RBIs) spearheaded the offense and Schievink added 2 innings pitched and 6 strikeouts as the #14 ranked Lady Dragons vaporized Boston English 22-2.

LACROSSE

Revere senior attacker Eddie Sullivan notched 8 goals and 1 assist in the Patriots 16-4 mauling of Salem.
