The School Counseling Center at Malden Catholic High School was recently dedicated in honor of the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation in recognition of the Foundation’s $250,000 gift in support of the school’s Essential Malden Catholic Campaign.
“Malden Catholic is grateful to the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation and its Trustees for their support of the Essential Campaign,” said Malden Catholic Headmaster Thomas J. Doherty III. “Our shared mission of service to Malden makes this a very important gift and a very special partnership.”
The Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation has been a strong supporter of Malden Catholic for many years and a fixture in the Malden community. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting a wide range of programs in and around Malden. With the generous benevolence of the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation, Malden Catholic could move forward with significant upgrades to its facility and programming. For many years, the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation has also provided tuition assistance to students in need. “It is recognized that Malden has more than its share of educational facilities, recognized for the academic achievement of their pupils, said Foundation President C. Henry Kezer, Esq. “Malden Catholic has the merit of providing a choice for the families it serves, to provide not only scholastic achievement, but the moral compass that many appreciate.”
Launching in 2013, the Essential Malden Catholic Campaign has raised nearly $20 Million in comprehensive giving. This includes $15 Million for teachers’ compensation and capital improvements, including a new library – the O’Donnell Learning Commons, the O’Donnell Science Center, a new track in Gilbert Stadium and new turf on Donovan Field, a joint project with the City of Malden to provide a multi-sport turf field and new tennis courts, new Varsity Locker Room, new lockers, school-wide air conditioning and many other wonderful improvements.
