Paul Clausen, Jr.

Public spirited and generous resident of Charlestown and New Hampshire

Paul E. Clausen Jr. of Charlestown and Freedom, NH died peacefully on September 14. He was 70 years old.
He began his professional career as a summer tour guide at Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, NH  and finished as an independent financial advisor to non-profit organizations. He also served in the US Army.
Paul was public spirited and generous. He loved Charlestown and the New Hampshire Lakes Region.
Among organizations that benefited from his experience and skills were: Big Brother Big Sister, Appalachian Mountain Club, Dance Umbrella, Gardens for Charlestown, Boston Community Garden Network, Charlestown Neighborhood Council, City Square Park, Berry Bay Lake Association, and the Ossipee Lake Dam Authority.

He loved fast cars, classic boats, and jazz; hiking, skiing, and sailing.
He was a bold and inventive gourmet cook., undaunted when illness prevented him from enjoying fine food himself.
He will be greatly missed by Roberta MacCarthy, his wife of 30 years, his son Paxton Clausen, and his dog Chloe.
Paul was a tough, gracious and fun man. A man of firm values, he left this world as he lived it – with a sharp mind and a fighting spirit.
Paul preferred no memorial service. Instead, please give a donation to your favorite charity.
