Carol Orpen
Long time accountant and secretary
Carol A. Orpen, a 40 year resident of Malden, formerly of Somerville and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, February 5 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.
Carol was born in Boston on August 17, 1945, a daughter of the late Henry Orpen and Jeanie (Urquhart) Orpen. She grew up in Charlestown, was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Carol was excellent with figures so she worked as an accountant and as a secretary for many years. Carol will be remembered as a loving aunt, friend, and as a very independent woman who cherished her family above all else.
Carol is the beloved sister of John Orpen and his wife, Helen of Hull, Jean Raso of Gilford, NH, Patricia Simard and her husband, Peter of North Easton, Don Orpen of Laconia, NH, Richard Orpen and his wife, Jenny of Randolph, and the late Henry “Jitterbug” Orpen, and Robert Orpen. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carol’s Visiting Hours on Thursday, February 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. with her Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. in the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown. Her burial will be private.
