Karen Gentis
Managed fiber optic accounts across the globe
Karen A. Gentis of Charlestown, formerly of Decatur, Indiana passed away on December 24 after a brave battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She was 56 years old.
Karen, who was born April 22, 1959 to Roger and Norma (Johnson) Gentis, was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she started a confirmation program for the teenagers. Karen graduated top of her class from Indiana University and immediately began what became a brilliant career managing fiber optic accounts across the globe. She won numerous awards and promotions along the way. However, her biggest accomplishment, and sense of joy, came from raising, and spending time with, her daughter, Jackie. Karen was extremely involved in every aspect of Jackie’s academic and numerous sporting activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Gentis, her step-father, Grover Odle; siblings: Nancy Gentis of Las Vegas, Michael Gentis of Atlanta, Nicci Landrum and Robert Landrum, both of Indiana), her niece and nephew Reagan and Coltan Landrum and her treasured dog, Sammy. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Phillip and Steven Gentis.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., January 30 at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Thomas Mousin officiating. There will also be graveside services in Decatur, Indiana on Sunday, April 17 at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlestown, Ma, or to the Charlestown Youth Soccer Association (CYSA P.O.
