Kelly Makes Good Showing in Council Race

For a first time candidate, Charlestown’s own Jack Kelly had a good showing during last Tuesday night’s At-Large race.

Kelly topped the ticket here with 3,696 votes. However it wasn’t enough to catapult him into one of the four At-Large seats.

Kelly finished the night in eight place citywide with 23,935 votes.

“I would like to thank Mayor elect Marty Walsh. Marty is a personal friend and I know first hand that the issues I campaigned on, second chances and creating an environment where healthy neighborhoods can flourish will be a major priority for the Walsh administration, said Kelly. “I look forward to continuing to work on these issues with all communities through out Boston.”

Tuesday’s At-Large race added a new face to the council. First time candidate Michelle Wu finished second in the race with 59,668 votes. Incumbent At-Large City Councilor Ayanna Pressley topped the ticket for the second time with 60,733 votes.

Former At-Large City Councilor and 2009 Mayoral Candidate Michael Flaherty finished third with 5,040 votes.

Incumbent At-Large City Councilor and the Council President Stephen Murphy came in third Tuesday with 44,937 votes.
