Playing on the hallowed floor of the TD Banknorth Garden on Monday evening, March 12, the Charlestown High boys basketball season came to an end as Brockton prevailed with an overtime 67-64 win in the Division 1 semi-final game.  Brockton now advances to the Div. 1 state final at the DCU Center in Worcester on Saturday, March 17.

Both teams played their hearts out.  First to score in the game was #4 Tyrik Jackson for Charlestown.  The Townies had a 17-12 lead but Brockton battled back and the first quarter ended tied at 19.  At half time, Brockton led 34-30.  Both teams scored 13 points in the third and the score was tied at 34, 38, and 44.  In the fourth, the battle continued.  A valiant effort by #3 Tyrese Hoxter, scoring 9 points helped end the fourth tied at 57.  In a four minute overtime, Brockton took the final lead and held it despite a final 2 point shot for Charlestown as the buzzer rang.

Congratulations to the team for a great season with 20 wins and 5 losses.  The Townies beat four teams in the state tournament and captured the Division 1/north title last Saturday evening with a 48-44 win over Lexington at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell.
