GU14-Girls: Charlestown 1, Malden 0

The Charlestown Girls U14 team started their fall season on the beautiful fall Saturday with a 1-0 win over Malden.  Townie captains for the game were Caroline Adduci and Jasmine Nijjar.  Isabelle Charbonnier and Lauren Sweeney each played goalie for half the game and made some great saves keeping Malden from scoring any goals against Charlestown.  Maeve Fittz scored the Townie goal during the 2nd half as she dribbled down the sideline and took a shot at the top corner of the net.

Maeve Shea played a great game at defense where she made some great plays in the second half keeping Malden from being able to take shots on the Townie net.  Emily Pardy also played great defense sending and carrying the ball back up the field towards Malden’s net.

At forward and midfield both Annie Coviello and Charbonnier were in the net to receive some great rebounds and shoot the ball back at the Malden goal.  Ruby Dunlea, at forward, had some great shots and crosses on Malden’s net.  Forward Sophie Shea did a great job putting pressure on the Malden goal during the game.  Midfielders Josie Hoyt and Jasmine Nijjar hustled up and down the field ensuring the ball always made its way back towards Malden’s net.

The girls play their next game Saturday Sept. 17 at 9am against Medford and Medford High School.
