CHAD Tennis Wraps Up a Successful Summer Season

CHAD Tennis Club’s 2011 Jr. Summer Tennis Program - Session 8 partici¬pants (from left to right): Yvonne Murphy, Coach; Christopher Reed; Stefan Stojanovic; Petar Stojanovic; Brendan Jimenez; Christine Maher; Dasha Belobokova; Ivan Belobokov; Hayden Groh; and Nigel Griffith, Director of Tennis & Mel Stillman Manager.

CHAD Tennis Club hosted its first summer program since CHAD took over the management of the Stillman Tennis Center this past December. The CHAD Tennis Program is one of those rare gems located within our neighborhood yet many of us fail to realize the extent of this treasure found within the humble facility –namely Nigel Griffith, the Director of Tennis and Manager of the Stillman Center, and his coaches.

Although Griffith possesses a remarkable tennis background himself, his mission has always remained clear: “Tto bring a professional level of tennis training and coaching to inner city children.” Mr. Griffith graduated from the IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy, an elite tennis academy that has at least ten worldwide No. 1-ranked players and countless more ATP and WTA players to its credit. While attending Bollettieri, Nigel and Andre Agassi became friends and continue to maintain a close professional relationship.  Aside from his involvement with CHAD’s Tennis Program, he is also the President of the New England Tennis Association and the President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Yvonne Murphy recently joined Nigel’s coaching staff and brings a background of early childhood education experience to her tennis background. Furthermore, all of the Jr. Coaches (mostly teenagers) have attended Bollittieri (many, thanks to Mr. Griffith) where they have learned to bring both maturity and professionalism to their own coaching.

CHAD Tennis offers clinics and lessons for children and adults and their Fall session begins in September. CHAD Tennis Program – Nigel Griffith: 617-241-2990
