William ‘zeke’ Marsden Playlot Opening

Mayor Thomas M. Menino with City Councilor Sal LaMattina and Charlestown residents cut the ribbon to officially open the newly renovated Cook Street Playground.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino joined Charlestown residents to unveil $281,000 in improvements to Cook Street Playground.

Located at the corner of Cook and Hill streets, the opening of Cook Street Playground highlights the Mayor’s commitment to the parks and open spaces in Charlestown.

Improvements included two new play structures, seating, lighting and plantings.  The playground was designed by CBA Landscape Architects LLC with community input and constructed by C. Naughton Corporation.  Funding for the design and construction was provided by the Mayor’s Capital Improvement Plan for $281,000.

As part of the Park Opening, the play structures were rededicated to Charlestown resident William “Zeke” Marsden.  Mr. Marsden was a fourth generation railroad conductor and an enthusiastic member of the Charlestown community.

The reopening celebration included refreshments provided by Hood LLC and face painting.
