In this neighborhood, there are the occasional inconveniences of our automobiles being broken into, stolen or keyed by thoughtless kids.

There is also the occasional burglery into our homes or condominiums or into our apartments by thieves who sometimes succeed in stealing some of our treasured possessions.

And there are the occasional visits police must make to keep the peace with families that are in crisis – and there is also the drug and alcohol problems so pervasive here for decades.

The bottom line, however, is that there is less of the bad and more of the good to report here in recent months and the police statistics gathered by the Boston Police Department prove this.

Living in the city, as we do, has its difficulties.

The level of crime here is falling – and this comes as very good news to local residents.
