Rashaun Brown took the opening kickoff to the Swampscott 30. A penalty was called bringing it back, but it helped Charlestown establish the early momentum. Devi Pimentel and Brown then pounded the middle with runs, working the ball down the field, until Colin Sullivan hit Kelvin Matos for a 40-yard Touchdown Pass – both firsts in their early Youth Football Careers. Pimentel then rushed in the extra point making it 7-0.
Charlestown’s Defense held Swampscott scoreless in the first half of play and continued to move the ball down the field on Swampscott, but couldn’t put points up. Swampscott came out in the second half and after a couple of Charlestown turnovers and were able to get on the board They tied the game and then took the lead by keeping the ball on the ground and scoring on a 45 and 43 yard rushing touchdown runs to pull out the opening day win.
